Dirichlet Process

Pursuant to a nonrestrictive method that can be applied in analyzing the lifetime dataset, this chapter introduces a stochastic process, known as the Dirichlet process, which is applicable for modeling the reliability of a product. The Dirichlet process, i.e., a generalization of the Dirichlet distribution, is also considered a distribution of distributions. This chapter practically works on the application of Dirichlet process. Applications of the most robust algorithms in analyzing the lifetime of products, with no restrictive assumption, require the use of several stochastic processes, e.g., the Blackwell–MacQueen urn scheme, the Chinese restaurant process (CRP), and the Pólya urn scheme, which are detailed and extensively discussed in this chapter. Specifically, it also focuses on the predictive applicability of the Blackwell–MacQueen urn scheme in modeling the probability of occurrence of an event. This approach of stochastic processes is the most important side that is useful and advantageous in quality management.
