Visible Sound

Ralph K. Potter · The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America · 1946

This is a demonstration-lecture concerning the portrayal of sound. New ways of picturing sounds in black and white and color and the relationships between movement in audible and visible sound will be discussed and illustrated. Also the legibility of speech patterns will be demonstrated by two-way telephone conversations in which the speech is seen rather than heard.
