Asahi Glass demos high-temperature, fluorine-based membrane
Fuel Cells Bulletin · 2004
Tokyo-based Asahi Glass has enhanced the durability of the MEA for a PEM fuel cell, using a new fluorine-based, proton-conductive polymer composite which reduces the degradation rate to 0.1–1% of that for conventional MEAs. The company also claims a world first in operating the new MEA continuously for more than 2000 h at 120°C and 50% humidity – an environment close to that of automotive fuel cells.
