Cross‐Domain Resource Management Frameworks
Yang Yang, Xu Chen, Rui Tan, Yong Xiao · 2021
This chapter focuses on cross-domain resource management among fog nodes to support intelligent internet of things (IoT) applications. It explores the joint computing and communication resource management for delay-sensitive applications. The chapter focuses on the delay-minimization task scheduling problem and distributed algorithm design in multiple tasks and multiple helpers fog computing networks under two different scenarios of non-splittable tasks and splittable tasks. It also explores the joint computing, communication, and caching (3C) resource management for energy-efficient applications. The chapter proposes F3C, a fog-enabled 3C resource sharing framework for energy-efficient IoT data stream processing by solving an energy cost minimization problem under 3C constraints. It presents a case study of the energy-efficient resource management in tactile internet (TI). The chapter also focuses on an energy-efficient design of fog computing networks that support low-latency TI applications.
