The Plant Cell is accepting applications for Assistant Features Editors
Nancy A. Eckardt, Blake C. Meyers · The Plant Cell · 2021
Are you a post doc or senior graduate student with a passion for language, writing, and communicating the importance and fascination of plant science to a wide audience? The Plant Cell Assistant Features Editor (AFE) program is for you! The AFE program helps to promote research published in The Plant Cell and assist our authors in communicating their work to a wide audience, and provides AFEs with experience and training in writing for a broad audience, training in the peer review process, and networking opportunities. AFEs are expected to contribute a minimum of four In Brief articles per year, highlighting recent articles in their areas of interest. In addition to gaining experience in science writing and publishing in The Plant Cell, AFEs join our editorial board and receive training in the peer review process through participation in editorial board meetings and consultations. We are accepting applications through Monday, September 27 for new AFEs for 2022. Preference will be given to postdoctoral researchers with a proven track record of research excellence, writing skills, and a commitment to communicating science. Details on how to apply can be found in the advertisement at https://plantae.org/blog/call-for-tpc-afes/. Applicants should submit a cover letter, a CV, contact details of two referees, and two writing samples: a first-author paper and a sample In Brief article highlighting a research article in The Plant Cell selected from the list provided in the advertisement.
