Debugging Your Access Applications
Michael Alexander, Dick Kusleika · 2018
Many Access applications rely on significant amounts of VBA code in forms and reports and as stand-alone modules. VBA is used for all aspects of application development, from communicating with users to massaging and transforming data on its way from tables and queries to forms and reports. The first step in debugging the user's code is to avoid coding errors in the first place. Often, the adoption of simple coding conventions eliminates all but the toughest syntactical and logical errors in VBA code. Access features a full complement of debugging tools and other capabilities. The users use these tools to monitor the execution of their VBA code, halt code execution on a statement so that they can examine the value of variables at that moment in time, and perform other debugging tasks. The VBA engine looks for an On Error statement and creates an Err object when VBA encounters an error in the user's code.
