Electronic Mail as a Medium for Dialogue

Kerstin Severinson Eklundh · 1994

This paper discusses the use of electronic mail (email) as an interactive medium for person-to-person dialogue. The basic conditions for a dialogue in email are outlined, and potential problems in connection with a “conversational” use of email are discussed. References are made to a previous study of communication in the COM system, as well as an ongoing study of response strategies among heavy email users.
