US public backs biometric ID

New research in the USA has revealed that most Americans support adding biometric identifiers to existing government-issued ID documents. However, three quarters of respondents to the study had concerns surrounding the potentially high cost of implementing a biometric program. More than two thirds also believe that criminals will find a way around the technology.
