UNIX Passwords
Douglas G. Conorich · Information Systems Security · 1998
The obvious way to enter any system is through the front door, the log-in program. The key to the door is the account password. Therefore, the account password is the single most important security feature on a computer. No matter how well users have secured the file system, the Internet connections, and all the other security features, if they have a guessable or, worse yet, no password on an account, everything they have done can be circumvented.
