28th annual IUPAP Conference on Computational Physics
Journal of Physics Conference Series · 2017
Editorial The 28th annual IUPAP Conference on Computational Physics was held at the St. Georges Hotel in Pretoria, South Africa 10-14 July 2016. CCP2016 was officially hosted by the South African Institute of Physics (SAIP) on behalf of the International Union for Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) Commission for Computational Physics, C20. For more than 25 years since its establishment, this important conference had not come to Africa. In 2013 the South African Institute of Physics (SAIP) successfully bid for this conference to be brought to Africa for the first time. The purpose of the conference series is to bring together computational scientists, leading academics, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results about all aspects of Computational Physics. The conference also provides the premier interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners, and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns, practical challenges, and solutions adopted in the field of Computational Physics. CCP differs from many other similar conferences because presenters are encouraged to highlight their relevant computational details and innovative new computational ideas, and in so doing go beyond simply using computing methods as a tool to produce scientific results.
