Chapter 2: Land Simultaneous Source Acquisition

Society of Exploration Geophysicists eBooks · 2020

There has long been interest in simultaneous sourcing in land seismic surveys. Most of this history involves Vibroseis vehicles, or vibrators, that place a pad on the earth's surface and send sinusoidal waves with a range of frequencies into the ground, typically a signal from 2 to 8 Hz up to 80 to 120 Hz. Signals from a vibrator can have well-controlled phase and amplitude, allowing a variety of approaches to simultaneous sourcing
