She is also the Principal Investigator of the SRIPAS team in the INTER-IoT project.Here, her team is responsible for the use of semantic technologies in the context of interoperability of IoT platforms. Key note address: Introduction to semantic technologies and applicationsToday, majority of AI researchers seem to focus their efforts on extending and deepening knowledge about theory and practical applications of machine learning, with particular interest in neural networks and reinforcement learning.However, symbolic AI, and semantic technologies as its most promising area, make a quiet comeback (after being "almost forgotten" for almost 20 years).The aim of the presentation will be to present foundations of semantic technologies, and answer questions like: (i) what is an ontology?(ii) how an ontology can help us?(iii) what tools exist and can be used to start experimenting with semantic technologies?(iv) why were semantic technologies abandoned and what has changed nowadays?(v) where semantic technologies can be found (if one looks very carefully)?(vi) what developments in the area of semantic technologies can be expected in the near future?
