Managing Your OpenSSH Environment
Apress eBooks · 2006
This Chapter saw the discussion of managing OpenSSH progress from technical details to overall strategies. The architecture and designs presented in this Chapter are proven and have worked in several SSH implementations. I encourage you to start with architecture and policy and then move into process definitions and security crisis procedures. I am sure process and procedures do not sound technical enough to excite everyone, but remember that without them, security crumbles. Behind these processes there is always a technical solution, whether it is for key management or gateway implementation. As mentioned previously, the next Chapter covers scripting via OpenSSH, which will utilize the key management and gateway architectures described in this Chapter. Additionally, several new scenarios that administrators are likely to encounter will be discussed.
