Identix and Viisage shock industry with US$770 million merger

Two of the largest companies in the biometric sector, Identix and Viisage, are to merge in a US$770 million deal. The move, which surprised many in the industry, creates a powerhouse that will be able to compete strongly at many levels, from large government programmes to the supply of biometric systems for medium-sized enterprises.
