Solving analytical problems requires the use of specialized software. Popular software packages are available from open source communities and commercial software companies. Weka is an open source project that uses Java and provides a user interface for data mining. R is an open source statistical package with user-contributed modules. Python is a scripting language commonly used by computer scientists. SAS is commercial software with many analytical methods embedded in its own programming language.
