Sony suffers major data breach as attackers leak files and destroy hard drives

Sony has suffered another major breach. This time it was the Sony Pictures arm whose servers were hacked by a group calling itself Guardians of Peace (GOP), which said (mostly via website defacements) that it had carried out the attack because of unspecified wrongdoing by the firm.
