Integration of test and analysis results

It is a very difficult task to maintain configuration control of the product design. During the period prior to preliminary design review, the design concept may be very volatile. In addition to the engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing planning, and inspection data representations, one must maintain the configuration of test and analysis data, models, simulations, mockups, and test articles that are used to validate, and verify the design, and the computer programs associated with these items. To validate a set of requirements means to prove that it is possible to satisfy them with a particular design analysis of that design or test of an article produced through a traceable process from its requirements and engineering. In the context of our plan expressed earlier to apply integrated product development, the product integration team should be held accountable for maintaining a list of all of the representations of the product articles.
