A Large Population Approach to Estimation of Parameters in Markov Population Models
Donald R. McNeil, George H. Weiss · Biometrika · 1977
It is known that in the limit of large population sizes certain classes of Markov population processes can be approximated by a deterministic process plus a noise term. In the usual approximation procedures the noise term is proportional to a Wiener process. This allows us to derive an estimation procedure for Markov population processes that are observed periodically at times Δ , 2Δ….
