Project Management and Product Development

Ertas Atila · 2018

The project management should bring a unique focus shaped by the goals, making sure that they are well defined, and measurable. The five primary processes involved in project management are as follows: initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing. The planning phase of management is the most essential element of activity or project: planning forms the basis and sets the stage for the control phase of operations. An integrated management system involves the integration of five management functions: planning, control, reporting, delegation, and development. The objectives tree method is a useful tool that enables the project team to gain a clear understanding and a more comprehensive agreement of the customer's needs and objectives as well as a baseline from which to proceed. The cascaded matrices translate the customer requirements to process parameters. Designing process involves constant decision-making. The chapter discusses number of techniques and methods used in product design and development.
