Walsh transforms

Tom Beer · American Journal of Physics · 1981

Walsh functions are an orthogonal set of square-wave functions that arise when dealing with digitized data. The Walsh transform and inverse Walsh transform are easy to calculate by hand, and can be very quickly done by digital computers. Examples of the uses of Walsh transform include real-time image processing of noisy data, and the rapid solution of nonlinear differential equations.
