Preface: Proceedings of the 5 th International Conference on Theoretical and Applied Physics (ICTAP) 2015 The 5th International Conference on Theoretical and Applied Physics (ICTAP) 2015 and the 28th National Physics Symposium (SFN XXVIII) was held in Universitas Halu Oleo, Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, November 23-25, 2015. The Conference was organized by Physics Department, Universitas Halu Oleo (UHO) and supported by Indonesian Physical Society (HFI). These meeting are aimed to provide the much needed forum of scientific communication and interaction among distinguished scientists working in the field of physics, physics applications. The conference covered the area of theoretical physics and computation, advanced material and nanotechnology, biophysics and medical physics, nuclear physics, geophysics, astrophysics, instrumental physics, laser and optoelectronics, energy and environment physics, interdisciplinary physics, and physic education. On the behalf of Organizing Committee, we are very appreciated by all participation in these meeting as invited speakers, contributors and participants. We have 12 invited speakers, about 42 papers for ICTAP 2015 and 44 papers for SFN XXVIII, which will be presented during two days of meeting. All submitted papers were reviewed by these members about 25 members. The selected papers and articles examine wide ranging and cutting edge developments in various areas of physics and its applications. We feel the variety of topics will be of interest to both undergraduate and graduate students as well as researchers. We believe these events will never come to happen without your participation and contribution. We would like to thank very much to all of your uncountable support in organizing these important event.
