Test specifications

Glenn Fulcher · 2014

In this chapter we try to show how it is possible to pull together many of the elements that we have discussed in previous chapters. Specifications for lan guage tests are the ‘blueprints’ for speaking tests that contain a statement of the test construct, a description of the tasks that will make up the test, a statement about what kind of responses we expect test takers to make, and an explanation of how the performances are going to be scored. Of course, the specifications may also contain many other elements that need to be included for specific purposes or contexts. We consider some of those as well.
