Checkerboard framings and states of virtual link diagrams

The Kauffman-Murasugi-Thistlethwaite theorem is extended to connected virtual link diagrams that are not checkerboard colorable. The extension uses checkerboard framings and cut points to count the number of components in a state of the bracket polynomial and its dual.
