Hypergeometric Distribution
Jonathan J. Shuster · Encyclopedia of Biostatistics · 2005
Abstract For a finite population of subjects of two types, suppose we select a random sample without replacement. The probability distribution of the number in the sample of one of the two types is the hypergeometric distribution. This article presents the hypergeometric distribution, summarizes its properties, discusses binomial and normal approximations, and presents a multivariate generalization.
