Predictive Models
Rod Stephens · 2012
Predictive models are useful primarily because they give a lot of structure to a project. For many customers, it is nice to have a fully developed plan that you can follow throughout the project's lifetime. This chapter describes some indicators that mean a predictive project may be successful. The indicators include user involvement, clear vision, limited size, experienced team, and established technology. The chapter describes a few other things that might indicate a predictive project will not succeed: incomplete requirements, unclear requirements, changing requirements, and no resources. The chapter describes some predictive software development models such as waterfall model, waterfall with feedback, sashimi model, incremental waterfall model, V-model and software development life cycle. The incremental waterfall model uses a series of waterfalls. Each waterfall produces an increment, a new version of the application that is incrementally improved over the previous version.
