Developing the Project Team

Kim Heldman · 2018

This chapter offers guidance on how to acquire and manage project resources by following the human resource and procurement management plans in order to meet project requirements. The chapter also describes how to manage task execution based on the project management plan by leading and developing the project team in order to achieve project deliverables. Execution also involves keeping the project in line with the original project management plan and bringing wayward activities back into alignment. The purpose of the Direct and Manage Project Work process is to carry out the project management plan and perform the work of the project. The Plan Procurement Management process might need intervention or cause delays. The organizational, technical, and interpersonal interfaces might require intense coordination and oversight. The project management plan documents the collection of outputs of the Planning processes and describes and defines how the project should be executed, monitored, controlled, and closed. The project management plan documents the goals of the project and the actual work the team will execute in order to meet those goals.
