Variables

April Speight · 2020

A variable is a name that represents a value, such as a number or piece of text (called a string). This chapter presents variable names as examples of ways to name a variable. Some variable names may be just one word, while others may include underscores. Variable names can also be created by capitalizing the first letter of each word after the first word, which is known as camelCasing. The chapter describes how to assign a value, such a number or a string, to a variable and how to print a variable using the print statement. By storing a value in a variable, the value can be updated in one place. The chapter also presents an exercise project to create a Python program that enables the classmates of a class to introduce themselves to the class. It guides the learners through the steps of the project.
