Sensor Applications

Thomas Hübert, Lois Boon-Brett, William Buttner · 2015

A range of different sensors can be used along the whole process chain of various hydrogen technologies. In this chapter the role of sensors is presented in representative technologies, which include hydrogen production, storage, and distribution as well as processes which consume hydrogen as a fuel or chemical feedstock or generate hydrogen as a by-product. Sensors are used for the following purposes: • To ensure the health and safety of workers, safeguard facilities, and protect the environment • To control devices, facilities, processes, and products 287 and Process Control Figure 7.1: Role of gas sensors for safety and process control.
