Tactile Internet
Guy Pujolle · 2020
Tactile internet is a new generation of networks which combines both real-time properties and reliability. Tactile internet must remotely provide not only content, but also skills. For example, in eHealth applications for tactile internet, an end-to-end latency of a few milliseconds is required, as well as very high reliability in data connection and transmission. Many functionalities are required for the tactile internet. A communication architecture piloted by 5G, with a radio interface to connect the client, a radio access network and a core network, meets the requirements to perform a tactile internet. To meet the challenges of the requirements of tactile internet applications, technological innovations are necessary in many aspects of the creation of a network, a physical layer, protocols and resources management. Industry 4.0, or the fourth industrial revolution, is the tendency towards automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies.
