Active Duplication
Darl Kuhn · Apress eBooks · 2015
The previous chapter discussed duplicating from an RMAN backup. This chapter walks you through duplicating directly from an open target database. This is referred to as active duplication because the source is a live database. You don’t need an RMAN backup when using active duplication. Rather, RMAN uses the live data files and control files as the source when copying the target (source) to the auxiliary (destination). When actively duplicating, RMAN copies the files over the network in either: These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
