Ransomware becomes most popular form of attack as payouts approach $1bn a year

Nearly a third of executives contacted during research by IBM admitted to having paid to get data back after a ransomware incident, representing 70% of the organisations that had suffered attacks. Overall, nearly half (46%) of firms have encountered ransomware attacks, though this rises for medium-size (57%) and large (53%) organisations.
