Suggest Boxes and Full Text Search
Apress eBooks · 2008
In this chapter, we’ll examine how we hook up a suggest box (SuggestBox) to the My Rankings page to allow users to add schools to their lists by typing in a few characters of the name and picking the school from a list of schools that begin with those characters. We’ll start with a simple server-side implementation of this functionality using basic SQL commands, and then we’ll install a full text search engine to give us the behavior and performance that we’re looking for. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
