Richard Reed, Sally Sims, David Cadman · 2014

This chapter discusses the computer software which will assist real estate developers to manage a development project from inception to disposal. The financial analysis of a real estate development was substantially advanced in the late 20th century with the widespread availability of computer hardware and software. New developments in computer software for the property industry are building on the technology used for 3D models. The recent emergence of software packages designed to meet the full spectrum of property company requirements, together with the increased portability of this technology through the use of laptops, tablets and smart phones, means that the developer now has many tools available both &s;in office&s; and &s;in the field&s; to assist in the complex task of managing a development. The widespread availability of inexpensive computer technology including laptop portability has increased the reliance on property development software throughout all phases of the development.
