Siddhartha Adhyapok, Hiren Kumar Deva Sarma · 2020
Advancement of sensor nodes and the ability to support multiple channels in WSNs change the performance of the overall network. Protocols used to operate the whole network are responsible for fully utilize the advanced sensor hardware. Routing protocol is implemented along with the MAC protocols or individually perform after MAC protocol finishes his duty. MAC protocols are basically related to channel allocation, slot allocation, traffic adaptation, etc. and routing protocols related to channel synchronization, shortest path discovery, packet transfer, etc. In this survey, we analyze 10 routing protocols, their techniques and how they concern about quality of services along with their advantage and disadvantage. Also, explain the issue related to routing protocols in multi-channel WSNs. According to this survey, we observed that many of the protocols are bounded to some specific environment. We point out some specific open issues and future research.
