Lexical Analysis

Richard Mitchell · 1991

After the user has entered a program which describes a shape, that program must be analysed to check that it is syntactically correct, before being executed. The first stage in the analysis is to divide the program into separate items, like numbers, words, operators, etc. This process is called lexical analysis, and is the main topic of this chapter.
