Automated and algorithmic debugging has been of interest for more than 30 years. In my talk, I will summarize the research activities that has been carried out, discuss the different research directions, and present current research on fault localization and program repair. I will also consider activities for bringing together research in the area of automated and algorithmic debugging and discuss promising niches of research that should be considered for future research.
