Foreword/Introduction

Theo Kofidis · 2021

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book discusses the relevant text for a series of mainstream MICS procedures, but also on QR codes – links to visual material from the Web. The paragraphs are marked by icons, for easy identification. Being a practical and unbiased guide, the content does not take sides, or show any kind of partiality to one technique, albeit demonstrating those perceived to be most popular. The demand for MICS surgery is strong in Asia, where patients don’t want large incisions and surgery altogether. The utilization of QR codes has in fact just started, and their potential will only expand as an educational tool, to append material on a secured Internet space. There is a plethora of apps out there, which anyone can download onto his smartphone, and exploit the full potential of QR codes.
