Toward a Message‐Passing Library for Heterogeneous Networks of Computers
Alexey Lastovetsky · 2003
In this chapter, we demonstrate that the standard message-passing library, MPI, which is normally used for parallel programming common heterogeneous NoCs, does not address some key challenges posed by NoCs. In particular, it does not support fault-tolerant parallel computing, and does not facilitate optimal distribution of computations and communications across heterogeneous NoCs. We briefly present Heterogeneous MPI (HMPI) – an experimental extension of MPI for optimal distribution of computations and communications across heterogeneous NoCs.
