Selected Short‐cuts and Other Features

Michael J. Rees · 2018

This chapter presents a list of the key short-cuts that the author has found to be the most useful. It also briefly mentions some of the Excel KeyTips, as well as some other potentially useful tools, such as Sparklines and the Camera. The key short-cuts are structured into their main categories of application: Entering and modifying data and formulae; formatting; and auditing, navigation and other items. There are three forms: line, column and win/loss charts. They can be created by activating the worksheet in which the sparklines are to be displayed, using Insert/Sparklines and selecting the relevant data. The Camera tool can be used to create a live picture of another part of the workbook. This allows one to create a summary report area without having to make a formulae reference to the data, and to easily consolidate several areas in a single place.
