Jay Jorgenson and Serge Lang [33] called the heat kernel “... a universal gadget which is a dominant factor practically everywhere in mathematics, also in physics, and has very simple and powerful properties.” In the past few decades, heat kernel has been studied and used in various sections of mathematics [24]. Recently, researchers from applied fields have witnessed the rise in usage of heat kernel in various areas in science and engineering. In machine leading, heat kernel has been used for ranking, dimensionality reduction, and date representation [10, 2, 11, 32]. In geometry processing, it has been used for shape signature, fining correspondence and shape segmentation [54, 41, 15], to name a few.
