You will inhabit the IT universe, at least for the next few years, and presented here are the main components of that cosmos; what you need to know or be aware of in your work and dealings. This section is not a detailed tutorial but an outline of the world of IT as it is evolving. Depending on your job, responsibilities, and preferences you will need to know about some of them in detail and some in passing. You should not be in a position to say “I’ve never heard of that”* on many occasions.
