Camera tracking

Mark Sawicki, Juniko Moody · 2020

This is an examination of two camera tracking systems: Halide that uses specific target locators and Mo-Sys that uses random retroreflective markers. We outline the concepts and principles involving setting up camera tracking systems to relate the precise position of the live-action camera to the stage space so that the data can be transferred accurately to the camera’s virtual twin in the Unreal ® Game Engine. Sensor placement and lens calibration are also described. We end with the importance of real lens calibration and how that process is done.
