Takeshi YANAGISAWA, Mikio MORIOKA, Kijuro Nakamura · Journal of the Japan Society of Precision Engineering · 1971

In this paper, higher order beats are defined as envelopes of combined oscillation, whose frequency ratio is nearly fractional but not exactly fractional. This paper describes, (1) the theoretical period of the higher order beats, (2) the shape and the number of the envelopes, (3) the measured period of the beat sensation of the tone of the higher-order-beats oscillations. The examples of the higher order beats are also presented.
