This chapter shows how to beat the challenges of developing and maintaining a future-proof network such as the Open Systems Interconnection model that will incorporate new features as and when they become available. It looks at some theories behind network planning and exploitation followed by necessary measures to ensure the network can be expanded for the future. As many networks are built on existing frameworks, what needs to be considered is also discussed. The chapter helps readers to an understanding of what is involved in an IT solution for optimization. Integrating hospital applications for ease of information exchange would ensure information about each patient was shared while care was provided, and to assist better management. Quality assurance is a vital part of providing trustworthy healthcare services, and is vital when providing wireless telemedicine technology. The Internet of Things connects people and devices together via the cloud concept and a software defined networking framework.
