Design Support Environmentsfor End Users Mark Guzdial Peri Weingrad Robert Boyle Elliot Soloway

Several chapters in this book (e.g., Chapters 2 and 3) discuss the design of end user programming languages. By end users we mean people who may be experts in some domain other than software design and who want to develop software to meet their particular needs. Our focus is not so much on the programming language itself, but on the computational environment in which it is embedded. What are the features of the environment which allow end users to design interesting (and thus, complex) artifacts in a domain in which they have little expertise?
