Introduction of various kinds of rewiring techniques will be given in this chapter. Rewiring techniques developed over the years differ from one another by not only their rewiring ability, but also their principles. We try provide a systematic categorisation of rewiring techniques. They can be classified into automatic-test-pattern-generationbased (ATPG-based) and non-ATPG-based. The former can be further classified into add-first and delete-first rewiring. With regard to the ATPG-based, a new rewiring technique is often built upon and improves other existing rewiring techniques. For non-ATPG based rewiring techniques, the idea of each of them is always interesting and unique. We will see why rewiring techniques are useful and important.
