Automation Systems with Flexible Robots
Heidi Fleischer, Kerstin Thurow · 2017
The use of classical laboratory devices within an automation system can be realized using one or more flexible robots. In contrast to a robot acting as a system integrator, the flexible robot performs transportation and manipulation tasks. This chapter presents realized centralized and decentralized automation systems, which are customized for a specific application (closed) or which can be flexibly used for different applications due to additional system adaptations (open). A detailed description of each system design is given including the used robot types, functional units, and peripheral devices. Finally, the measurement results including the system performance are presented and discussed.
