Use of the von Mises Distribution to Analyse Continuous Proportions
Michael A. Stephens · Biometrika · 1982
The von Mises distribution in p dimensions is suggested for the analysis of data which are proportions of a continuum such as time or volume. The one-way analysis-of-variance technique developed by Watson (1956) is extended to a multiway layout, and the methods are illustrated on data giving proportions of time spent in various activities. Other examples are briefly mentioned.
