The ability to build web applications that target mobile devices in additional to traditional desktop HTML browsers is becoming an important web application feature as the number of devices proliferates in a variety of form factors and display capabilities. An example of this is the fact that Microsoft produces versions of Pocket Internet Explorer for the Pocket PC, the Pocket PC Phone Edition, and the Smartphone mobile device platforms in addition to the traditional desktop IE product.
