Some of the Pascal language files in this section can be downloaded from https://www.bh.com/companions/0750656840 . Bugs Bugs are program errors. There is a nice story about why they are called ‘bugs’: it is said that Grace Murray Hopper, the designer of COBOL, first used the term to describe the removal of a moth (a ‘bug’) from a Mark II Aiken Relay Calculator, a primitive computer. There is a problem with this story: it is probably not true! At the very least, the story may have a bug in it! See https://www.jamesshuggins.com/ h/tek1/first_computer_bug.htm Pascal ALGOL is a programming language that was in use in the 1960s on large commercial machines, before the age of PCs. ALGOL was written by a team of people that included Professor Niklaus Wirth from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.
